Principality of Reuss senior line
Fürstentum Reuss ältere Linie (German: Principality of Reuss) was a German state that existed from 1778 to 1918, ruled by the older branch of the Reuss dynasty. The counts of Upper and Lower Greitz in 1778 received the title of princes. In the Austro-Prussian War (1866), the principality supported the Austrian Empire, which caused heavy financial losses.
After the November Revolution, the principalities of the older and younger lines were merged into the Republic of Reuss, which in 1919 was included in Thuringia.
