Fanning Island

Issues 1942

HELP: Fanning Island is one of the key relay stations during World War II, a station connecting Vancouver (Canada) with Sydney (Australia). In circulation on the skeleton was the Australian currency. Due to the impossibility of receiving banknotes by the director of Fanning Island Plantations Ltd, R.G. Garrett ordered banknotes with a face value of 1 pound, with a circulation of 1000 pieces (serial numbers 1117-3175 are known). After the war, Fanning Island Plantations Ltd banknotes were exchanged for Australian ones.
