Saudi Arabia and is connected to this country by a road bridge.
Until April 28, 1959, the Indian rupee was in circulation in the country, until it was replaced by the Persian Gulf rupee issued for the Persian Gulf countries. The Gulf rupee was pegged to the Indian rupee. When the Indian rupee depreciated in 1965, the value of the Gulf rupee also fell. After that, the Bahraini government decided to put its own currency into circulation. The Bahraini dinar was introduced on October 11, 1965, replacing the Persian Gulf rupee, in the amount of 10 rupees = 1 dinar. From the following year, the Bahrain dinar became the monetary unit of the Principality of Abu Dhabi, until in 1973 it was replaced by the UAE dirham. The dinar rate is "pegged" to the US dollar.
