333333-Catalogue of paper banknotes. Bourbon Island-444444

Coat of arms of the Kingdom of France

REFERENCE: Since 1642 - possession of France. In 1649, at the request of Louis XIII, the island of Bourbon (Île Bourbon) became known in honor of the royal family of the Bourbons. In the second half of the 17th century, a large number of slaves were brought to the island from Madagascar, as well as from Africa, to work on coffee plantations.
In 1715, coffee production began, the first six coffee trees were imported from Yemen.
In 1764, ownership of the island passed from the French East India Company to the French Crown.
On March 23, 1793, after the overthrow of the monarchy in France, the island was renamed Reunion or Reunion de Patriot, in honor of the historical association of revolutionaries from Marseille and the National Guard in Paris. Wiki
