REFERENCE: Nouvelle-France is the common name for French possessions in North America (1534-1763). At various times, New France included:
Canada - the modern Canadian provinces of Quebec, Ontario and part of the shores of the Great Lakes (in particular, Fort Detroy founded by Cadillac - today's Detroit).
Louisiana is the valley of the Mississippi River with the modern American states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Acadia (Acadie) - the modern Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and St. John's Island (Saint-Jean) - today's Prince Edward Island.
New Earth (Terre-Neuve) - modern Newfoundland.
