Nezavisna Država Hrvatska
REFERENCE: Independent State of Croatia (horv. Nezavisna Država Hrvatska) is a state formed by the Ustashi in 1941 with the help of the Axis countries and their allies. In 1941, it was inhabited by 6.64 million people and occupied an area of 102.7 thousand km ². The new state included part of modern Croatia without Istria and most of Dalmatia, as well as all of modern Bosnia and Herzegovina, some areas of Slovenia and Srem. All of Istria and most of Dalmatia (with the cities of Sibenik and Split) according to the Roman agreements were included in fascist Italy. The NHC bordered in the west and southeast with Italy, in the north with Germany and Hungary, in the east with Serbia and Montenegro, which was an Italian protectorate.
