Republika Hrvatska
REFERENCE: Republic of Croatia (chorv. Republika Hrvatska) is a state in southern Central Europe and the west of the Balkan Peninsula, a former union republic within Yugoslavia, which became independent in 1991. The form of government is a democratic republic. The name comes from the ethnonym of the people - Croats. The capital and largest city is Zagreb. It borders in the northwest with Slovenia, in the northeast with Hungary and Serbia, in the south with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro; in the west it is washed by the Adriatic Sea. The national currency is kuna. The country has been a member of the UN since 1992, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, NATO since 2009, and the European Union since July 1, 2013.
