REFERENCE: French West Indies or French Antilles (French: Antilles françaises) is the historical name of the islands of the Caribbean Sea belonging to France. Currently, the territories remaining under French administration are allocated to two departments (Guadeloupe and Martinique) and two overseas communities (Saint-Bartelmi and Saint-Martin). The Antilles of Le Sainte, Marie-Galant and La Désirade are administered by Guadeloupe.
