Portuguese Guinea

Guiné Portuguesa

Colony of Portugal

REFERENCE: Portuguese Guinea (port. Guiné Portuguesa) is a Portuguese colony in Africa that existed in the late XIX - early XX centuries. For a long time, the Portuguese presence on the West African coast was limited to the fortified settlements of Cacheu (founded in 1588) and Bissau (founded in 1687), which were centers of the slave trade; they were managed within the Cape Verde colony. In 1879, Portuguese possessions on the mainland were separated into a separate colony, Portuguese Guinea. After the revolution in Portugal, the new metropolitan government on September 10, 1974 recognized the independence of Guinea-Bissau. Wiki.
