REFERENCE: Jersey (English Jersey, French Jersey, normand. Jèrri) is an island in the English Channel, part of the Channel Islands. The largest in area (116 km ²) among the Channel Islands. The population is 97,857 people (2011). Jersey - Crown of the British Crown, however, is not part of Great Britain. It is the responsibility of the United Kingdom to protect Jersey. In 1973, the United Kingdom joined the EU, that is, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar are members of the European Union through the membership of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and are the customs territory of the EU, with the exception of Gibraltar. Jersey has its own parliament, the States of Jersey. Jersey Crown also includes several small islands.
