Soviet military issue in Korea

REFERENCE: Soviet military issue in Korea, 1945 After liberation from Japanese forces, Korea was divided into two zones, which were under the control of the American and Soviet military command. The zone division line ran along the 38th parallel. In circulation in both zones, the Korean yen continued to be used, which was issued by Joseon Bank, located in the American zone of occupation, which did not give the Soviet military command the opportunity to use the bank's issue to cover the cost of maintaining troops. In October 1945, on behalf of the Red Army Command, banknotes of 1, 5, 10 and 100 won were issued. The banknotes show the date "1945," the text is in Korean. The issue of banknotes was limited mainly to the locations of Soviet military units.
