REFERENCE: In view of the fact that in the territory of the liberated part of Hungary the entire banking emission mechanism was completely upset, the Soviet government, on the proposal of the Allied Control Commission on Hungary, established in January 1945, was allowed through the created Soviet bank to issue military banknotes denominated in the national currency of the country. Officially, the issue of Allied military currency was provided for initially in the Armistice Agreement concluded on January 20, 1945, and then confirmed in the peace treaty with Hungary, signed on February 10, 1947. In accordance with the Armistice Agreement, it was established that "the Hungarian Government must regularly pay monetary amounts in Hungarian currency and provide goods (fuel, food, etc.), facilities and services that may be required by the Union (Soviet) High Command for the performance of its functions, as well as for the needs of missions or governments of the Allied States associated with the Allied Control Commission."
