The bank is one of four banks issuing banknotes for Northern Ireland. The bank was founded in 1783. By 1827, the bank had 7 branches in the cities of Cork, Waterford, Clonmel, Newry, Belfast, Derry and Westport. In 2005, the bank reduced the number of employees by 2 thousand people (up to 12 thousand people). Profit in 2011 is estimated at 2 billion euros.
