1.5. Reference: The Kingdom of Romania is a state that existed on the territory of modern Romania, Moldova, partly Ukraine and Bulgaria from 1881 to 1947.

The law of April 22, 1867 introduced a lei equal to 100 baths. A monetary system similar to that of the Latin Monetary Union was adopted (formally Romania was not part of the union). In 1867-1890, two currencies were circulating in parallel: leu and French franc. In 1877, mortgage tickets (Bilet Hypothecar) were issued. Since 1890, the leu has become the only national currency.
