Knezhevina Srbiјa
REFERENCE: Principality of Serbia (Serbian: Кнежевина Srbiјa, Kneževina Srbija) is a Balkan state formed after the Serbian revolution in 1817. Initially, the state occupied the territory of the former Belgrade Pashalyk, but in 1831-1833 it expanded its borders to the west, east and south. In 1829, the Turks recognized the autonomy of Serbia. In 1867, Ottoman troops left the territory of the principality. In 1869, a new constitution defined Serbia as an independent state. In 1878, the Principality of Serbia further expanded its borders to the southeast, in the same year the Berlin Congress was held, which guaranteed the recognition of Serbia by the powers and complete independence from the Ottoman Empire. In 1882, the Principality of Serbia was proclaimed a Kingdom.
