REFERENCE: The Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish: Konungariket Sverige), Sweden (Swedish: Sverige) is a state in Northern Europe on the Scandinavian Peninsula. The form of government is the Constitutional Monarchy . The capital is Stockholm. Member of the UN, European Union since January 1, 1995, a signatory to the Schengen Agreement. In the west, Sweden borders with Norway (border length 1619 km), in the northeast - with Finland (614 km), and from the east and south it is washed by the waters of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Bothnia. The total length of the borders is 2333 km. In the south, the Öresund, Kattegat and Skagerrak straits separate Sweden from Denmark. Sweden includes two large islands in the Baltic - Gotland and Öland.
