REFERENCE: According to the Law on Banks (March 14, 1875) in the German Empire, 33 banks (including the Reichsbank) received the right to issue banknotes. By the 20th century, the issue law was retained by 4 banks - Bayerische Notenbank, Badische Bank, Sächsische Notenbank and Württembergische Notenbank. In 1935, the issuing right of private banks was canceled, banknotes of private banks remained in monetary circulation until 1936.

The banks are numbered in the order in which they are listed in the imperial law of 1875. Number 1 was at the Reichsbank, which is not covered in this section. The Preussische Haupt-Bank-Direktorium (Issue 1874) is not considered respectively.
* There is no Landesständische Bank des Königlich Sächsischen Markgrafenthums Oberlausitz in the 1875 list, but the bank's banknotes were withdrawn on the basis of the 1875 law, therefore the bank is included in the table.
It is worth noting the release of 1874 Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank, München. In the list of Banks of the Law of 1875, this bank is absent.
