Espainiako Erresuma, окс. Reialme d'Espanha) is a sovereign state in southwestern Europe, a member of the European Union. Spain occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula. The territory is divided into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities. The capital is Madrid. It occupies 80% of the territory of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as the Canary and Balearic Islands, has a total area of 504,782 km ². It has land borders with: Portugal; the British possession of Gibraltar in the south of the Iberian Peninsula; Morocco in North Africa; France and Andorra in the north. Spain is washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and by the Mediterranean Sea to the south and east.
