REFERENCE: Yugoslavia is a state in Europe that existed on the Balkan Peninsula for almost the entire 20th century and had access to the Adriatic Sea.
Greater Yugoslavia - until 1947 a unitary state (KSHS, Kingdom of Yugoslavia), since 1947 a federal state (FPRY, SFRY) included 6 states: Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, now all independent. Lesser Yugoslavia - a federation (FRY), then a confederate union (GSSC) - included the now independent states of Montenegro and Serbia.
Yugoslavia was formed (as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes) after the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century, broke up at the end of the 20th century - the beginning of the 21st century.
 
     


The state was formed on December 1, 1918 from Serbia, Montenegro, territories that were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

During World War II, Yugoslavia was occupied by Germany and Italy. Puppet states of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia were formed in the occupied territories. Part of the territories went to Italy and Germany.
